Marta Lourenço and Maria Paula Diogo win international awards

Marta Lourenço (CIUHCT member and and vice-director of the Museum of National History and Science MUHNAC) has been awarded the George Sarton medal by the Ghent University, a prize that acknowledges her work in favour of the appreciation of material and archival heritage of science. In other news, both the editors and the authors of the Making Europe: Technology and Transformations, 1850-2000 book series were awarded the Freeman Prize of the Freeman Prize da European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (EASST). The Freeman Prize is awarded to "a publication which is a significant collective contribution to the interaction of science and technology studies with the study of innovation. Selection [is] be based on the successful development of social approaches to the dynamics of innovation, originality, and better understanding of the pursuit of innovation for societal and environmental goals". Maria Paula Diogo, CIUHCT member, is the co-author, with Professor Dirk van Laak (university of Giessen), of volume 6 of the series, entitled Europeans Globalizing: Mapping, Exploiting, Exchanging. Johan Schot (University of Eindhoven/University of Susesex) and Phil Scranton (Rutgers University) are the series editors and Palgrave Macmillan is the publisher.
