The Ciência Viva Awards distinguish the National Mathematical Games Championship, an initiative developed by Jorge Nuno Silva, giving it the Ciência Viva Educação 2020 Award for "promoting in a playful way concentration and logical reasoning, essential for the learning of Mathematics, and for their efforts regarding social inclusion, visible in the creation of a category for blind and visually impaired students".

The Ciência Viva Awards are awarded annually as recognition for exceptional merit regarding scientific and technological dissemination in Portugal.

The championship is organized by the Ludus Association, of which Jorge Nuno Silva is president, the Portuguese Mathematical Society and the Mathematics Teachers Association.

The (virtual) cerimony of the Ciência Viva 2020 Awards, which also includes Alexandre Quintanilha and the 2 'Minutes to Change Lives campaign (Grande Ciência Viva 2020 Award and Ciência Viva Media 2020 Award, respectively), will take place on November 27, at 3 p.m.
