- Portuguese empire and early modern Asia;
- Forms of knowledge and political practices between Europe and Asia, 16th-17th centuries.

- 2019-2025: “The Hidden Layer: In-Between Lives and Archives of the Early Modern Portuguese Empire”, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT).
- 2017-2019: “Global History and Micro History”; funded by Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Network Grant, UK; co-investigator, with Maxine Berg, Warwick (principal investigator) and John-Paul Ghobrial, Oxford (co-investigator).
