Ten Problems in History and Philosophy of Science (Peter Galison)
We would like to invite you to contribute to and participate in the upcoming sessions of the Journal Club on History and Philosophy of Science. Hosted by the CIUHCT, it is to take place once a month during lunchtime on Fridays (April 20th, May 18th, June 15th, July 13th). Participants are welcome to have lunch during the meeting. The schedule can be adjusted according to the participants.
The Journal Club offers an informal meeting arena to foster scientific discussion and promote critical thinking. The current sessions will address the topic of "Bringing disciplines (and people) closer: research methodologies in History and Philosophy of Science”. Meetings will be held in English.
Everyone (from all areas of research) is welcome to attend and suggest papers to discuss.
Please send the article you would like to discuss to Ana Nunes (amqnunes@fc.ul.pt) and we will get back to you.
For the second session we propose to examine and reflect upon the paper:
Peter Galison, "Ten Problems in History and Philosophy of Science”, Isis, vol. 99, no. 1, 2008, p. 111-124. It is available in open access here:
