During the 14th and 15th centuries the most used astronomical tablets in the West were the so-called Afonsinas tablets, conceived in Paris from the material originated from the astronomers of King Alfonso the Wise. These tables are characterized by radically adopting the sexagesimal notation, both for the measurement of time and for the measurement of space (angles). In this session, the scope and structure of the boards will be briefly presented and, as an example of use, the places of the sun and a planet will be calculated using the boards in order to understand the common calculation practice in the latin Middle Ages.
