UN Agenda for Sustainability 2023
CIUHCT leads a number of projects and develops a range of activities in the field of historical research that intersect with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
The History of Science, Technology and Medicine is a favoured field for understanding the socio-political factors that shape the development and adoption of sustainable practices.
By examining the social phenomena, political conflicts and scientific debates of the past, we aim to contribute to a better understanding of the complex and heterogeneous dynamics that co-determine the development and implementation of sustainability practices.
All CIUHCT projects are aligned with the SDGs of the United Nations 2030 agenda. Here are some of these projects:
Anthropocene Commons (2023-)
Hi-BicLab. Laboratório de História para Mobilidades Urbanas Sustentáveis: Políticas cicláveis de Lisboa (2022-2023)
AQUA. Horto Aquam Salutarem: Water Wise Management in Gardens in the Early Modern Period (2018–2022)
Sustainable Beauty for Algarvean Gardens: Old Knowledge for a Better Future (2015-2020)
