AQUA research project opens position for PhD fellow

The research project AQUA. Horto Aquam Salutarem: Water Wise Management in Gardens in the Early Modern Period, led by Ana Duarte Rodrigues, was recently approved by the portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), and is now recruiting a PhD fellow. Applications will be accepted from October 24 to November 14.
Requirements
- PhD must have been granted at least 1 years ago
- Demonstrated scientific and/or professional experience in working with documentation of the 15th to the 18th centuries
- Knowledge on Early Modern History
Work plan
- The study of ancient books and treatises that approach the topics related with landscape water management
- Archival work seeking the discovery of novel primary sources on the topic
- Deepen study of some cases of hydraulic systems used in villas and monastic enclosures of the Early Modern period
- Comparative study of Portuguese early modern hydraulic systems against a European background
- Participation in outreaching activities, such as national and international publications and conferences
