CIUHCT scored as Excellent (top score) in the latest FCT Evaluation of R&D Units
25 June 2019
CIUHCT has been graded as "Excellent" in the 2017-18 Evaluation of R&D Units by Portugal's scientific research agency, Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT). In today's announcement, FCT renews CIUHCT's maximum score from 2014's evaluation. In its review, the international panel for History and Archaeology includes warm praise of CIUHCT's activities, and we quote,
CIUHCT can be described as a leading European research centre devoted to research topics related to the history and material culture of science, technology and medicine (HSTM). In fact, CIUHCT is one of the few European R&D Units that is covering, in an integrated and cohesive way, these three historical dimensions. During the period the Unit has an excellent record of achievements in terms of multidisciplinary research outputs, research projects, scientific edition, and scientific dissemination.
This evaluation will impact the funding allocated by FCT for the 2020-2023 period, which, together with ongoing ERC and H2020 projects, will allow for the consolidation and expansion of the work developed since CIUHCT's foundation, in 2007.
