The first complete history of science, technology and medicine in Portugal
An unprecedented approach in Portuguese historiography, in four volumes, from the 15th century to the present
This collection presents, in four volumes, an original and current view of the relevance of science, technology and medicine in the construction of Portugal, from the medieval period to the present day. The aim is to make known to a diverse audience the best historical research in these areas, supplying the traditional alienation of Portuguese historiography in relation to national scientific contexts.

The second volume, Razão e Progresso (Séc. XVIII), discusses the ways in which science, technology and medicine were organized through a plethora of supports and recipients. It also explores its transits in the Portuguese empire in the 18th century, identifying actors, groups and networks, as well as exploring its intricate articulations, negotiations and appropriations.
