Professor Sílvio Correa (UFSC), CIUHCT Visiting Scholar

Until July 2019, we will received Professor Sílvio Correa (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina), who'll be working on the project "Corpos enfermos e anômalos na África colonial - Uma invenção da alteridade Africana” [Sick and anomalous bodies in colonial Africa - an invention of African alterity], supervised by Professor Isabel Amaral, at the Department of Applied Sciences (DCSA) in FCT/NOVA.
Sílvio Correa has a PhD from the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Germany) and is a tenured professor in the Post-Graduate Program in Global History and the Interdisciplinary Post-Graduate Program in Social Sciences at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil). He has been a visiting scholar at CNRS in Québec (Canadá) and the Institute D'etudes Avancées in Paris (France). Currently he is also a CAPES fellow and senior visiting scholar at the Centre d'Études en Sciences Sociales sur Les Mondes Africains, Américains et Asiatiques (CESSMA) of Université Paris-Diderot.
