CIUHCT researchers lectured at the course 'History, Environment and Knowledge in the Anthropocene', at the prestigious FIOCRUZ
21 May 2019
CIUHCT researchers Maria Paula Diogo, José Luís Câmara Leme and Davide Scarso have participated as teachers in the short course História, Ambiente e Conhecimento no Antropoceno [History, Environment and Knowledge in the Anthropocene], which took place at the prestigious Casa de Oswaldo Cruz (COC/FIOCRUZ), in Rio de Janeiro, between 14 and 17 May 2019. The course included several other well-known scholars from the Anthropocene debate in the field of Social Sciences, like José Augusto Pádua (URFJ), Thiago Mota Cardoso (UFBA) and Deborah Danowski (PUC-Rio).
Aimed at postgraduate researchers from FIOCRUZ and other Rio de Janeiro higher learning institutions (40 slots), the course also allowed for, through streaming, the attendance of postgraduates from all over Brazil (140 slots). All enrollment slots were filled.
Our centre's participation in this course reinforces, on the one side, its leadership in the debate on the Anthropocene in the context of Social Sciences in Portugal, and on the other, the connections between portuguese and brazilian teaching and research. The course will soon be available in FIOCRUZ's Virtual Campus.
