Encontro “A Sociologia dentro e fora da academia”

Paula Urze, alongside Alexandra Aníbal (CML/Municipal Directorate of Culture, APS) Madalena Ramos (Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, CIES), Pedro Abrantes (Open University) and Rui Banha (MCTES/DGEEC), organized the Meeting “A Sociologia inside and outside the academy.

The Portuguese Sociological Association (APS) promotes a culture of association between the various professional fields of sociology and holds meetings that encourage the participation of sociologists in the non-academic professional field. Thus, in conjunction with the Portuguese Association of Professionals in Industrial, Organizational and Work Sociology (APSIOT), and the Center for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES_Iscte), they organize the Meeting "Sociology inside and outside academia", which will take place in Lisbon, at the Biblioteca de Marvila, on November 10, 2022.

The meeting will be an opportunity to deepen the role of sociology in today's society, based on the articulation between scientific work and the different professional insertions of sociologists. In this way, it is intended to create community, disseminating recent experiences of collaboration between sociology inside and outside the academy, and seeking solutions to the challenges we face in our professional practices.
