Tiago Hirth (co-author alonsgide Lisa Rougetet) presents O 'primeiro' encontro dedicado à Matemática Recreativa.
Abstract
The Congrès International de Récréation Mathématique took place in 1935 and 1937. Paired with world fairs in Brussels and Paris, the meeting brought together several "ingenious" minds from around the world who exchanged ideas on Recreational Mathematics. We will discuss some of the contents shared there, such as Cryptarithmetic, chessboard problems and other puzzles linked to more formal areas of mathematics — from number theory to the beginnings of game theory (combinatorials) — as well as speaking a bit on the actors and the meeting itself. This presentation is about ongoing work being done in conjunction with Lisa Rouget of the University of Lille.
