The research project "Making the Earth Global: Early Modern Nautical Rutters and the Construction of a Global Concept of the Earth” (RUTTER), coordinated by CIUHCT researcher Henrique Leitão, has recently been awarded an Advanced Grant by the European Research Council. It is now accepting applications for two research fellowships for PhD students.

Applications will be accepted until July 5, and the fellowships will begin in September 2019. The candidates may come from any scientific background or nationality, but will need to have completed a PhD degree on any field upon application, fluency in written and spoken English, and experience in scientific or historical research. Preference will be given to applicants with degrees in History of Science, experience in historical research related to the early modern period, and proficiency in Portuguese or Spanish. The fellowships will have the maximum duration of 60 months, and cannot exceed the end of the project.
