TEDxULisboa: Seria a Terra redonda em 1500?

The TEDx ULisboa event took place on May 4, at the Aula Magna of the Rectory of the University of Lisbon, and was uploaded to Youtube at the end of July. In this 15-minute talk, Joaquim Alves Gaspar, PI of the Medea Chart research project, shows how, at the end of the Middles Ages, cartographers and navigators dealt with the inconsistencies of modern nautical charts, experiencing the practical implications of the Earth's roundness. The analysis of the first modern nautical modern charts is the center of the research agenda of the Medea Chart project, funded by the European Research Council between 2017 and 2022.
