In an article in Fugas/Público about the carnations of the revolution, Ignacio García-Pereda unveils “an April secret”

While conducting an interview with Guilhermina Madeira, agricultural manager at the current Tavira Agricultural Experimentation Center at the time of April 25, Ignacio García-Pereda came across the secret behind the Algarve carnations that became the revolutionary symbol marking the end of the dictatorship. By chance, the carnations of April have remained a lost story. At the end of the production of his book O Posto Agrário de Tavira (1926-1974), Ignacio García-Pereda interviewed Guilhermina Madeira - “an important part of the project was a memorial”, with interviews with former employees and agronomists. Guilhermina was one of the people on the list - and discovered the story, which she repeated at the book presentation. The story is now portrayed in Cravos de Abril, a short documentary, released in March, in which Guilhermina Madeira is the protagonist and the only “living witness”.
