CIUHCT at the Global Festival for the History of Science on 29 September
20 September 2023
CIUHCT will be present at the Global Festival for the History of Science, which is taking place online throughout the 24 hours of 29 September. Ana Duarte Rodrigues and Ana Simões will be speakers in one of the evening sessions, with M. Luísa Sousa as a moderator in one of the afternoon sessions.
For the first time in its history, the Division for the History of Science and Technology (DHST/IUHPST), with assistance from the British Society for the History of Science (BSHS), is organizing a conference in-between its traditional international congresses that take place every four years.
Different from the congresses, which aim at giving hundreds of participants an opportunity to present recent results from their respective fields, the aim of this meeting — that we are calling the Global History of Science and Technology Festival 2023 — is to bring together historians of science and technology representing the diversity of regions, backgrounds and topics that the DHST stands for to reflect on a single issue: The Future of History of Science and Technology / History of Science and Technology for the Future.
Ana Duarte Rodrigues and Ana Simões will be speaking in session 21 (8:00 pm-9:00 pm (UTC)), where they will present, respectively, Building Bridges Between the History of Science and Technology and the Natural and Exact Sciences for a More Sustainable Future and When Centers and Peripheries Meet Global History: The Art of the Fugue. M. Luísa Sousa will be the moderator of session 15 (2:00 pm-3:00 pm (UTC)).
More information about the programme can be found here.
The event is organised as a 24-hour online festival. All times are indicated in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).
